OH OH OH

and I re-did the angel baby wings. They looked so crappy.

Special order - yippy frickin' skippy

My super best customer ordered 2 angel babies (have sold 5 now :) and requested 6-9 necklaces for Christmas gifts. I don't even make them. LOL She sent me a $500 advance for materials.

Proof of GOD yet again.

So, here's what I want to know: What did I do to get the karmaboomerrang? I just wanna know so I can do it again, and again, and again.

(grin)

I will take pix of the jewels. So far, I have made 281 elements (beads and focals, etc.). Oy!

Testing the wire wrapping on this one...

I don't like how the details get washed out by the ZINC FREE clear glaze. (above) I wish I knew more.

I sure like the Shinos.

odd art

Yes, that is a frozen charlotte head. (oh, I am SO up to NO GOOD) (evil laugh ;) I am going to fire this thing and then wire up the back, adding charlottes and buttons in the wire, then glaze, and fire again. The bird comes off and there are two chocolate eggs glazed in a speckled robin's egg blue.

Is it wrong to love a kiln?

maquette the fork

just goofin' off with lace. I really didn't mean to make anything. And...

I really can do better hands.

twins

Can I get likeness twice? Once?

I really love clay. My highschool ceramics teacher retired this year. I wonder if he remembers me. I took ceramics for 6 semesters but was afraid to take regular art. I was the t.a. instead. What a chicken, bok, bok. I remember this blonde girl who did the best watercolors. I tried them at home, secretly. What a disaster. That really sealed the deal on convincing me I was not artistisly inclined. One or two tries? What an idiot. Honestly! I was telling the bff Sheri about the memory and she remembers who that girl was. She is pretty amazing.

Maybe I will email good ole Mr. C.

I guess it was a good thing for me to do accounting. I color coded everything in my offices. (grin) But, hey, if I ever sell more than one item, I can add them up. (roll eyes ;)

I made several art deco pendants. I wanna stick heads on everything. How does a head platter sound? ..........LOL..........I hear ya! (wink) But I am gonna do it anyway.

angel baby

It is really quite challenging to do these lil faces. This is a commissioned gift for a young woman who recently lost her baby. I actually received an order for TWO babies. The other mother lost her baby about 15 years ago. I wanted to make them smooth and fit in the palm (or pocket) like a worry stone.I have a LOT more time on the second baby so I will see if I can really detail out the wings. I think I might be wise to mold these babies. (grin)
She is about 3 inches long. The second one is twice as big (so far). I am using glasses from the drug store, even had to upgrade to 1.5's.

(chuckle ;)

Do you do this?

I was thinking of making platters so I could draw on them, stencil them, and decal them. I am really just looking at flat items that may work for me and my "style". I think I will make boxes with drawers and back-drops for my figures. Especially after I read this:

"Tableware producers must have all finished ware tested and approved as safe for dinnerware through a certified laboratory due to possible variations in firing temperature and possible contamination."

What?

Really?

Do those of you that make dinnerware do this? (scratches head)
UPDATE: The shop told me that as long as the glazes have been tested I am cool. So I bought a platter mold. See me dancing all around the place?

so shiny

A few little experiments with glazing. I love how these came out. I have a whole bunch of pumpkins drying, but in red clay, and some chocolate dragon flies. I think they will look great in these glazes and they are much larger.
I have requests for some figs and pomegranates. How cool is that?

Not very useful but I am not really into anything that isn't frivolous. (grin ;)

sprigging, I am sprigging

that is being sung in my head to the music from "I Am In Heaven", as in Fred and Ginger. How do these things get in my silly head?

Lil choco boxes in the kiln last night. I had a glazefest and I am excited to see them today. I hope I didn't over glaze. I am light handed and have had to increase the amount of glaze on each piece. I am totally paranoid of drips. But what is the big deal any way? It wouldn't be the end of the world and I can go buy a new shelf.

Fly, be free, right?

Finally!

What do you think? The little maquette has some problems (her has poopy pants ;) but I am fairly happy with the two figures. The hands could be way better. Or I could just chop all of them off at the arms. ;) I have so many more to make. Right after I finish a bunch o' pumpkins. (grin)

In case you wanted to know or way too much info

I thought I'd add a little to my bio today...

Yes, I was a vp/cfo in finance but before that I was in sales for a bit. OK a 9 year bit. I was the accountant for an electronic circuit board company and getting kinda burned out on the hours. I also did their cable box company, escrow company and a couple of others. I was around 28 and I wanted to have kids. I didn't see how I could be doing the things I wanted with my future children and keep up the grind at work. Sooooo.....I started looking into all of the direct-sales type of businesses. ALL of them. I finally selected one with a excellent product and reputatuion. I did rather well after a rocky start. It is hard to be an extrovert when you are used to hiding in books. (grin)

Well, long-story-short, I got the hang of it, won 3 cars (or was it 4?) and became a sales director. It was fun, exciting, stressful, and the best training ever. I had 350 regular customers and just under 50 on my sales force. wooo hooo I really, really loved my customers. I guess they could tell. They were so lovely and so loyal.

I quit my accounting position at about the 3 year mark and got divorced. No money. None. Nada. Zippo. Zilch. Scary. I guess it was a couple of years later that I bought my first house (as a single girl). That was a great day. My hard, hard work had paid off. Now I had a house and I am home in the daytime. Tick those off of the list. I am ready for a man again.

Got a husband. Still have him. Got it right finally. I was 33. He is amazing and perfect for me. I love and respect him AND still like him (important) after 12 years. (huge grin)

All is set...whew!

This is good. I like control. I like to be prepared. OK, baby time. Not! Menopause at 34? WTF? The doctor said "complete hormonal failure". She had to use the f word? I hate that. ;) So much for planning. We adopted 3 kids. Their grandpa decided to keep them after they lived with us for a month. Two girls and one boy. I have video. Damn. Can't go there again. Too awful.

Then...I got mad at sales. I know, I know. lol Silly me. It was "why am I going through all of this to stay home", blah, blah, blah and my #1 sales lady passed away suddenly. No Bonnie, no baby. I am going back into accounting. We can do the strangest things when pissed off. ;)

Fast-forward 2-3 years....

911 happened. The day after, I was having a long talk with the pres (that we had just transplanted from Wall St.). You remember what that day after was like, I am certain. I told him that there were a lot of things I still wanted to do. Like oil painting. He said, New Yorker that he is, "What in the F*** are you waiting for?" (F words seem to fling around me a lot, eh?) Blinking, I said, "Nothing, now." I went to my office and googled art. I quit 5 months later.

So, that is my story. Well, part of it anyway.

Life without kids is rather fun, selfish, and stressfree. I have cousin-ettes that I can borrow any time. And I have. The bff's from 6th grade each have 2. They are all teenagers now. (chuckle).....(did I do that out loud?) I live vicariously through them. Or not. (grin) Believe it or not, I always refer to myself as lucky and having it all, because I do, 'cept that one thing.
:)

test tiles and drawing on clay

Oh shoot, where are the pix? (blushing) I forgot the "afters".....I'll be back.....

chocolate love fest

Fired and still standin' (whew ;)I hope they live through the glazing. Maybe today. Still finishing the choco-fest.

Yum! I can't wait to fire and glaze. I made up test tiles for experiments.

still at it

I started a seated figure based on this stencil.
She is half done. Pix soon. Plus, I have other stuff to show. I am doing a whole group of these people and a dog, a tree, and a peacock.

Testing glazes, too! Wait till you see how fabu they are gonna be!
