months ago

I bought this crucifix in February.  I thought it was the coooolest thing ever to use for a necklace along with some French catholic medalions.  They are chez magnific.  Tres fabu?  lol  My French is almost as old as I am.

I got it out YESTERDAY to make into a necklace.

This morning I am blog-boppin and low and behold I see another one.  I am so blown away

So, here is what I know about mine:

Antique relic Crucifix Cross. Our Holy Father Dominic. Inside are two pieces of wood and paper on which is written'arboris S.P. Donimici. Wood of the tree of our Holy Father Dominic.

The tree referred to is the organe tree planted in the cloisters of S. Sabina all' Aventino, Rome. The location of one of the oldest known crucifixion scene in the world.

The Crucifix is a heavyweight silver with a wood inlay.
The screw at the bottom is missing but it stays closed on it's own.  It is about 7/8 x 1 3/8" ( not including the bail).

Fabuness!!
